Sync-out/sync-out contents with history using CLI tool

Is it possible to sync-out contents with the history using CLI tool and sync-in. Backup and restore wouldn’t work for us as we are planning to migrate from a quite older version.

If possible, it would be very helpful if you could share the instructions.

The sync tool does not preserve the history. I would just try it out with the backup. It should be backwards compatible.
