"Multiple contents" vs "Single content"

Hi, this is newbie question, but I could not find the answer in the forum or docs.

When creating a new schema, what is the difference between “Multiple contents” and “Single content”?

Single content means one one content item for your schema. e.g. you could make a schema with all your generic settings like Copyright Text, Legal texts, Logo and so on. And you do not need multiple instances of this item.

i have other question about API. single shouln’t have get list API, right.
